After studying Political Science at Leyden University Daan van Lent followed the MA International Journalism at City University in London. After graduation he started his career working for several trade journals. From 1996 to 2006 he wrote as a financial journalist for the Dutch weekly FEM Business. He was deputy editor of this magazine from 1999 until 2004. In 2006 Daan started at daily newspaper NRC, working for the business desk. He covered the financial crisis from 2008 until 2010 and wrote two books about the crisis. He was part of the investigative team for almost two years, before moving to the Arts Section where he worked as a reporter. In 2018 Daan wrote about healthcare politics and business. Since December 2018 he is leading the business desk at NRC Media.
